WINGATE, N.C. – The No. 3 UIndy men's lacrosse team (10-2) dropped a 14-9 decision in a South Region showdown on Saturday afternoon, succumbing to No. 4 Wingate (12-1) on its home field.

Triston Schaffer led the Greyhounds with four points on three goals and one assist, while
Kyle Basch recorded five ground balls and four caused turnovers.

A goal by
Nathan Lam with 12:26 left in the third quarter evened the score at seven apiece, but the Bulldogs controlled the tempo the rest of the way after a tight battle. Wingate rattled off six straight goals spanning nearly 20 minutes to pull away.

The Hounds led by a single goal at halftime on the heels of a pair of scores from Schaffer in the opening frame.
Drew Billig and
Ben Foster entered the scoring column in the second quarter, helping build a 6-4 UIndy lead.

Overall, the Bulldogs outscored the Greyhounds, 9-3, in the final 29 minutes. Adding to his impressive defensive stats, Basch scored his fifth goal of the spring to match his single-season high.
