CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa. – After a unanimous DII First-Team All-American campaign for the University of Indianapolis second baseman
Drew Donaldson, the awards have continued to come. Perfectgame.org has named Donaldson as the DII Most Valuable Player. He efforts helped lead the Greyhounds to become the first-ever seven-seed in the super regional era to advance to the NCAA D-II Baseball Championship, while earning their third ever appearance at the big dance.
Individually, the Greyhound's second baseman played all sixty games for the Hounds, starting every contest at second base and holding down the No. 2 spot in the lineup. In that spot he was dangerous, carrying an OPS of 1.192 with 21 doubles, seven triples and ten bombs. Throughout the season he set the single season record for runs and total bases while fighting for the hits record, landing him in second place in program history for single-season hits. That hits mark landed him seventh in the nation at the end of the season.
"It feels great to be recognized and picked for the D2 MVP award," Donaldson said. "There's a lot of great players out there and to be chosen as MVP is a great honor and shows the hard work and passion I have for this game."
