Hounds Open Conference Play With Shutout Win

BOLIVAR, MO - The UIndy men's soccer team (3-0-1) opened conference play on Friday versus Southwest Baptist (1-2-1). The Hounds shut out the Bearcats with a final score of 3-0.

INS & OUTS
The Greyhounds came out strong and kept the ball near their goal. The first goal of the game came at the 30 minute mark from Owen Atkison. He tipped it with a long pass from Bobby Turner. With seconds left in the first half, a deep pass from Jona Hogle allowed Kabelo Ngatane to fake-out the Bearcats goalie to earn the second Hounds goal of the night. 
 

UIndy came out in the second half with the same mentality as the first half. The Hounds continued to keep taking shots at their goal. This paid off with a goal at the 67 minute mark by Bobby Turner. Turner was able to head it in after a corner kick by Michael Tselios.

Kieran Brown protected the goal from the Bearcats for 83 minutes, he did not allow a goal in. Will vanHoornbeek finished out the last seven minutes of the game with the same sucess. 

INSIDE THE BOX
- The Hounds were on fire with 17 shot, 10 were on goal, compared to the Bearcats six and four. 
- Pierre Lurot played for the full 90 minutes. This is his fourth game where he played all 90 minutes. 
- Brown recorded four saves against the Bearcats.
- Atkison, Hogal, and Roman Beko led the Hounds in shots on goa, they each had two attempts during the match.

UP NEXT
UIndy hope to continue their successful start as they travel to Springfield, Mo. to take on the Drury Bearcats. The Sunday afternoon game is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. EST.
