INDIANAPOLIS—The UIndy football team picked up a key region win Saturday night at Key Stadium, dispatching of Wayne State by a final score of 28-7. The Greyhounds held the visiting Warriors scoreless for all but the final four-plus minutes with an impressive defensive effort.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UIndy nearly shut out their former GLIAC rival, as Wayne State did not score until late in the fourth quarter. The Hounds held the Warriors to just 204 total yards, including zero passing yards in the first half.

Offensively, UIndy found the end zone in every quarter, as quarterback
Gavin Sukup and running back
Jon Lewis had a pair of TDs apiece.

Lewis delivered the biggest blow of the night late in the game. Just 27 seconds after Wayne State finally got on the scoreboard
— making in 21-7 Hounds
— Lewis broke off a 49-yard sprint-and-score by to all but ice it.

Michael Brown led the D with seven tackles each. Brown added two pass break-ups while
Dylan Shelton and
Justin Thomas each had a TFL.
-Lewis finished with 143 rushing yards on just 16 carries. As a team, the Hounds went for 269 yards on the ground.

Luke Keller dropped two kicks inside the five-yard line.

Alonzo Derrick led the team in receiving yards for the second time in as many games, hauling in five catches for 83 yards.

UIndy improves to 14-10 all-time versus Wayne State … UIndy is the second straight GLVC opponent for the Warriors, as they defeated Missouri S&T last week in Detroit, 31-24.
