INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis women's soccer team etched another GLVC-conference victory on Sunday afternoon, taking a 1-0 result against the William Jewell Cardinals.
Sarah Wegener scored the decider in the victory with 13 minutes left in the first half for her third goal of the season.
Kendall Ellis in goal was dominant once again, staying clean for her second contest in a row, while also saving four shots.
INS & OUTS
The theme of early and often was set early by the Hounds, as they began their barrage of offense at just the second minute, with
Genevieve Crocker hammering one towards net.
Maddy Theis and Crocker once again each added shots on goal within the first ten.
The pressure of the Hounds eventually forced the Cardinals to crack, with it coming off the foot of Wegener after a quality center by Crocker. The Cards tried to respond quickly, taking a pair of shots but neither finding the back of the net. The half ended with two more shots on goal by the Hounds.
The second featured a plethora of fouls by both squads, but nobody was able to take advantage.
Lyza Shamy and
Stephanie Brady both put quality shots on net, to no avail. Three yellow cards highlighted the end of the contest, two on WJC and one on UIndy.
INSIDE THE BOX
- Wegener led the Hounds on offense, grabbing the goal and four shots on goal.
- Ellis continues to shine in the box, facing six shots and grabbing four saves.
- Crocker grabbed the assist on Wegener's goal, making it her third of the year.
- The defensive line of the Hounds were stalwarts once again, with Theis, Shamy and
Rochelle Maxson all recording 90 minutes.

The Hounds will hit the road again for next weekend, taking their busses to St. Louis to face the Missouri-St. Louis Tritons. The match is set to begin at 6 p.m.
