Hounds Take Down Miners in GLVC Opener

ROLLA, Mo.—The 14th-ranked UIndy football team opened conference play with a 26-13 win at Missouri S&T Saturday night. The Greyhounds held the host Miners scoreless in the second half while scoring 10 fourth-quarter points to pull away.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Up just third heading into the final quarter, the Greyhounds crafted a 11-play, 57-yard drive to make it a 10-point game with eight minutes to go. The decisive series was capped by a three-yard touchdown catch by tight end Ethan Hand, his first of the season.

On the ensuing Miners drive, linebacker Clay Schulte dampened S&T's  hopes of a comeback by batting down and corralling a pass, returning it 21 yards to the Miner 11-yard line. UIndy cashed in with a short field goal by senior kicker Dylan Hillger, making it a 13-point game with just five minutes to go.

The Miners found some late momentum, moving the ball to the UIndy 32, but safety Michael Brown sealed the win with his second interception of the night.

INSIDE THE BOX
-Running back Jon Lewis notched his second 100-yard rushing game of the season, racking up 109 yard on 19 carries (5.7 ypc).
-Tonight marked the second career two-interception game of Michael Brown's career (10/22/22 vs Quincy).
-QB Gavin Sukup finished 16-for-24 passing for 203 yards and two touchdowns while adding a rushing TD.
