INDIANAPOLIS - The UIndy women's volleyball team fell to Illinois Springfield, 3-0, on Friday night. The Greyhounds have clinched a spot in the GLVC tournament and are currently playing for a higher seed.
Before the match, the team celebrated their three seniors
Kayla Guthrie,
Sophia Parlanti, and
Lauren Peal. It was an emotional and memorable moment for the three Greyhounds as they finish their time with the program.
INS & OUTS
Freshman
Madeline Lynch and Parlanti each grabbed 11 kills during the contest. Lynch hit .320 against the Prairie Stars, only committing three attack errors on 25 attempts.
Redshirt junior
Claire Morris played all around for the Hounds. The Indianapolis native, finished with 29 assists, five block assists, and eight digs.
On defense, freshman
Kelsey McKenney also picked up five block assists. Sophomore libero
Ellie Spang led the team in digs with 12.
INSIDE THE BOX
- Despite the loss, UIndy overpowered Illinois Springfield in kills with 46, compared to the Prairie Stars' 32.
- Parlanti and Guthrie were the Greyhounds with solo blocks finishing with two and one, respectively.
- UIndy did not have an ace during the match-up and allowed Illinois Springfield to grab seven.
MORE NOTES
The Greyhounds continue to lead the Prairie Stars in the all-time series, 13-4 ... Eirini Glynou led the UIS offense with 14 kills.
