NORTH CANTON, Ohio – The Greyhounds closed out 2024 on Saturday with a 63-60 loss on the road at Walsh.
Patricia Chikamba led both teams in scoring with 26 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Greyhounds.
INS & OUTS
The Cavaliers started the second half with a 14-7 run on the Greyhounds followed by three points from Patricia Chikamba and a triple from Elana Wells to finish the third quarter with the Greyhounds trailing, 53-48.
The Hounds outscored the Cavs 12-10 in the fourth quarter, but could not get a shot off in the final seconds to pull off the win.
Chikamba started the scoring with a layup early in the first quarter. The host Cavs responded with two layups of their own, followed by a second Chikamba layup and then back-to-back 3s.
Junior transfer Jaelynne Murray scored six of her season-high 14 points in the second quarter, adding three rebounds and two assists for the Greyhounds.
INSIDE THE BOX
- Sophomore Sanaa Thomas contributed a season-high 16 minutes for the Greyhounds, appearing in her first game since Dec. 2 against Lewis.
- The Hounds outscored the Cavs on the fast break, 19-9.
- The Walsh bench dominated with 39 points compared to three from the UIndy reserves.
- The Greyhounds forced 27 turnovers, scoring 15 points from Cavalier miscues.
