Greyhounds Capture Overtime Thriller at Key

INDIANAPOLIS - The No. 8 UIndy men's lacrosse team defeated No. 11 Seton Hill, 10-9, in overtime on Saturday. The Greyhounds improve to 6-1 on the season and tack on their second win against a ranked team.
 
Sam Puzevic had the game-winning goal just over one minute into overtime securing the win for the Hounds.
 



INS & OUTS
From the very beginning, both teams were fighting for the lead trading goals. After three unanswered Greyhound goals in the third, the Griffins scored two goals in the first 3 minutes of the game. With Seton Hill up 8-7, the Hounds turned up the jets and started fighting back harder.
 
Nathan Lam sent the ball into the goal with help from Owain Braddock at the 9:49 mark. The Griffins didn't allow UIndy to run away with the win, answering with a goal to lead, 9-8, with less than six minutes left. As the clock ticked down, Triston Schaffer found the back of the net to tie the game and send it into overtime.
 
UIndy started overtime prepared to take home the win. With 2:56 left, Owain Braddock found Puzevic who sent the ball passed the goalie to defeat the Griffins.
 
INSIDE THE BOX
-In goal for the Hounds was KC Carlson. Carson never left the field, he finished with nine saves and earning his fifth win of the season.
- UIndy was dominant on faceoffs, winning 20-of-23. Caleb Parker was the one to make this happen, participating in all 23 faceoffs.
- Justin Williams led the team in shots with 14, four on goal. As a team, the Greyhounds attempted 58 shots with 25 on goal. The Hounds were able to hold the Griffins to only 33 shots, 18 on goal.
- UIndy also took advantage of the ground balls. The Greyhounds picked up 34, holding the Griffins to only 19.
 
ON ANOTHER NOTE
The Hounds are now on a three-game win streak against the Griffins. In the four times the squads have faced each other, UIndy leads the all-time series 3-1.
 
UP NEXT
The Greyhounds will travel to Newberry, S.C. for a match-up against Newberry. The game is slated for Mar. 9 at 2 p.m. This will be only the second game the Wolves will face the Hounds. The last time they played each other was on Feb. 18, 2022, were the Greyhounds won, 15-8.
