Men’s Golf Opens Spring Schedule in South Carolina

GREENWOOD, S.C.— The UIndy men's golf team kicked off its spring slate this week at the Bearcat Classic, hosted by Lander University at Greenwood Country Club in Greenwood, S.C. The Greyhounds placed 12th in the 20-team field, with eight of the 20 teams receiving votes in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek DII Coaches Poll.

INS & OUTS
Sporting an all-freshman lineup, the Greyhounds saved their best round for last. Their 11-under 277 in Tuesday's final round—good for the fourth-best score of the day—lifted them three spots in the final team standings. All five Greyhounds finished at even-par or better for the round, with three Hounds finishing in the 60s.

Maverick Conaway carded a pair of 69s on the week, finishing at -6 to lead the team at T-15. He shot a 31 on the final back-9, including an eagle on the 536-yard 15th. Simon Engman (E) settled at T-45 followed by his countryman Alexander Nestun (+4)  at T-61. Cameron Young and Ben Keil finished strong with a final-round 68 and 69, respectively.
