Top-Seeded Greyhounds Ready for GLVC Quarterfinal

vs. McKendree Bearcats (15-12, 9-11 GLVC)
Thursday | March 7 | 7 ET
St. Charles, MO

The UIndy men's basketball team opens postseason play with a familiar foe on Thursday, squaring off with eighth-seeded - and defending GLVC tournament champion - McKendree for a 7 p.m. ET tip on the campus of Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo. The Greyhounds were victorious in each of the teams' first two meetings this season, including a 91-69 win just last Saturday as the Bearcats celebrated Senior Day.

The Hounds earned back-to-back GLVC regular season titles (and top seeds in the postseason bracket) with their victory over Missouri-St. Louis last week, marking the first time since 1997-00 a league program has done so.

Riding a six-game winning streak, UIndy returned to the national spotlight earlier this week at No. 23 in the weekly coaches poll. In addition, the Greyhounds remain atop the latest Midwest Region poll, released earlier today, prior to the selection show this coming Sunday at 11 p.m. on NCAA.com.

POSTSEASON PLAY
The Greyhounds are making their 15th straight appearance in the GLVC Championship Tournament and 23rd overall since the league began postseason bracket action in 1998. Still in search of its first GLVC title since 1997 (last season of competition where champion was determined by regular season standings), UIndy has had modest success since head coach Paul Corsaro was hired prior to the 2020-21 season. The Hounds are 5-3 overall in the conference tournament, with at least one win each season, including a run to the title game in 2022 as the No. 6 seed.

McKendree, also as the No. 6 seed, earned the automatic-qualifying bid to the NCAA tournament due to its GLVC championship last March. In its first appearance in the national tournament, the Bearcats knocked off the top-seed Greyhounds and advanced to the Midwest Region title game before their Cinderella run came to a halt.

UIndy is on track to make its second straight NCAA tournament appearance, its first time since the program did it five consecutive times from 2011-16.
