INDIANAPOLIS - UIndy extended their win streak to three straight games today in their 1-0 road win versus Upper Iowa.
The Hounds 10 shots on goal are tied for the most by the team since they had 12 in their game against Upper Iowa last season. UIndy also held the Peacocks to no shots on goal. This is only the third time in four seasons that the Hounds have held a team to no shots on goal in a game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Roman Beko created two early chances for the Hounds within the first five minutes of the match, both shots forcing important saves from Upper Iowa's JJ Gonzalez-Hayes.
The Hounds fast start was rewarded just eight minutes into the match when a right footed shot by
Brandon Johnson was deflected by an Upper Iowa defender and found the back of the net to give UIndy a 1-0 lead.
The pressure continued for the rest of the first half from UIndy, with more shots on goal attempts by a flurry of players including;
Lucas Bedleg,
Kabiru Gafar and
Demetris Giannakopoulos, but the score remained 1-0 headed to the half.
The second half was much of the same for the Hounds, constant attack against the Peacocks defense. Gafar and Beko both had shots early in the second half which forced saves by Gonzalez-Hayes.
Many of the Peacocks' chances came late in the second half, with two shots coming from Matteo Rodriguez in the 73rd and 75th minute, neither of which forced a save from
Ionas Giovanidis.
UIndy's defense held strong for the rest of the second half, and secured the 1-0 win.
