Hounds Overwhelm Cardinals, 63-17

INDIANAPOLIS – The 19th-ranked UIndy football team rolled to a 63-17 win over William Jewell Saturday night at Key Stadium. Senior quarterback Gavin Sukup delivered a special performance—even to his standards. The two-time reigning GLVC Player of the Year racked up 379 total yards and six touchdown passes in the one-sided win.

The Greyhounds scored early and often Saturday, jumping out to a 14-0 lead in the first seven minutes on the way to a 42-point first half. By the time the dust settled, UIndy lit up the scoreboard for 63 points, its highest total since it hung 70 points on Quincy in October of 2021.

Individually, Sukup put up some historic numbers in front of the Key Stadium faithful. He matched the school record for touchdown passes in a game (6), became just the third UIndy quarterback in recorded history with 100-plus rushing yards in a game (105), and also joined a club of only four Greyhounds all-time with 7,000 career passing yards.

INSIDE THE BOX
- Five Greyhounds touchdowns came from at least 19 yards out, including a 35-yard TD catch by Taylor Clark in the first quarter—his first career score.
- Jusesters Fataki had a standout game out of the backfield, amassing a game-high 132 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the evening.
He has compiled more than 300 rushing yards in the last two games combined.
- Ten Greyhounds had at least one reception, with Colton Wilkie corralling five balls and Alonzo Derrick generating 61 receiving yards and two TDs.
- Freshman safety Nashon Johnson earned his first career interception.
- Linebacker Jalen Wilson topped the team with nine tackles. He was also one of seven Hounds credited with a tackle for a loss.

UP NEXT
The Greyhounds are back on the road next week. They'll head to Rolla, Mo., to battle the Miners of Missouri S&T on Saturday, Oct. 11.
