The Greyhounds lost a tight four-set battle Friday evening against Missouri-St. Louis, which sits atop the GLVC standings with two weeks to play in the regular season.
UIndy improves to 17-8 overall and 7-2 inside GLVC play.
UIndy 3, McKendree 0
The Greyhound offense returned to form on Saturday, hitting .302 as a team, marking their first time finishing with a plus-.300 attack percentage in the last five matches. Freshman setter
Carly Fonda paced the offensive momentum, dishing out 40 assists to six teammates, while tacking on a pair of kills for herself.
The three-set final could be a bit deceiving, as the final two frames featured a combined 14 ties and three lead changes before the Hounds neutralized the Bearcat threat.
Maddie Lynch got back on track, recording a match-high 14 kills on .417 hitting on the outside. Seven of her finishes came in the second set, including two of the final four Greyhound points.
McKendree kept fighting like it did all afternoon, knotting the third set up at 17 apiece after trailing, 13-8, early. The Greyhounds responded with the final push, scoring eight of the final 10 points to earn the sweep.
Maddie Berger, who came off the bench in the final two sets, and
Lauren Gips knocked down a kill apiece in the waning moments to cap the victory.
UMSL 3, UIndy 1
The Greyhounds fell to the Tritons in the first matchup of the weekend in four sets. The Hounds started on a high note, claiming the first set by a score of 25-19 - the largest point differential of the match. After evening the contest at one set apiece, the Tritons escaped the final two frames, 26-24 and 25-23, respectively.
The Hounds went on a 7-2 run to start the first set, capitalizing on three straight attacking errors from the Tritons. UIndy controlled the momentum for much of the opening set, taking the early lead at 3-2 and never looking back. Fonda collected the Hounds' final kill of the set, assisted by Allie Wustenfeld, but it was a UMSL service error that secured the first set for the UIndy.

The two squads took turns leading much of the second, with UIndy's Lynch collecting four of her nine kills of the match in the set. The Tritons were able to capitalize on seven Greyhound errors and five service aces to even the match 1-1.
The league foes battled through the final two sets, with eight lead changes, and both were decided by only two points. Attacking errors were the nail in the coffin for the Hounds with 15 in the final two sets to secure the win for the Tritons.
