CANTON, OH – The UIndy women's basketball dropped its second game in as many days, falling to Malone 94-57. Along with UIndy's first opponent, Ashland, the preseason No. 2 team in the G-MAC, Malone, were also featured in the WBCA Preseason Poll.
Just like yesterday, Patricia Chikamba and Graycie Poe both notched double digit figures tonight, as Chikamba led the way with 19, matching her total from yesterday's contest. while Poe finished with 10. Amyrah Sapenter was the third double figure scorer tonight, as she collected 15 points on 3-7 shooting from three.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Greyhounds never led in today's contest, but was able to use a quick 6-0 midway through the first quarter to cut the lead to three, which was the closest the Hounds got to the Pioneers today. Autumn Rucker and Sapenter both scored three a piece during that run.
Malone led by 11 heading into the second quarter, and used 21 second quarter points to extend the lead to 25 at the break. The Pioneers tallied 16 bench points in the first half, adding to its team total of 45.
Chikamba collected 13 of her 19 points in the second half, while Sapenter scored eight points in the second half, drilling two threes in the fourth.
INSIDE THE BOX
- Freshman Taylor Van Meter made her first appearance and scored her first two points in a Greyhound uniform.
- Chikamba led the team with seven rebounds, including two on the offensive glass.
- The Greyhounds got to the line 23 times, and connected on 17 of those 23 from the charity stripe.
UP NEXT
The Greyhounds return home to Nicoson Hall for a midday match up at noon on Nov. 20 against Walsh. These two played a tightly contested game in 2024, with Walsh coming out on top 63-60.
