UIndy Athletics Announces Internal Promotion For Katie Christman

INDIANAPOLIS – UIndy Director of Athletics Kim Pate announced the promotion of Katie Christman to Senior Associate A.D. for Academic Success & Retention and Senior Women Administrator (SWA). Wrapping up her second year as part of the staff, Christman will transition from her previous role as Associate A.D. for Compliance.

"I am incredibly excited to elevate Katie Christman into this expanded leadership role as our Senior Associate A.D. for Academic Success & Retention and Senior Woman Administrator," said Director of Athletics Kim Pate. "Since joining our team, Katie has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the holistic development of our student-athletes. She has proven to be an invaluable asset to our department. Her extensive background in both academic coordination and compliance makes her uniquely qualified to lead this critical area.

"Her transition into this role is a natural progression, as she possesses the strategic vision and passion necessary to lead our academic success and retention initiatives. I am confident her leadership will further our efforts in providing a 'Best in Class' experience while ensuring our student-athletes excel both in their sport and in the classroom."

The role was previously held by Andrea Walker who resigned to take another position outside of higher education back in September. As part of her new role, Christman will lead the department's academic success and retention efforts, providing secondary advising and coordinating academic support, degree audits and progress-toward-degree monitoring for all student-athletes, as well as partnering with campus resources and committees on retention efforts.

She will also serve as the primary liaison to faculty, campus partners, and student-affairs units to support student-athlete success, career readiness, leadership development, and student-athlete well-being. Christman will also head up student-athlete educational programming and help support the newly established Hounds Leadership Academy.

"I am proud to continue contributing to the mission and future of our athletics department and to supporting the success of every student-athlete we serve," said Christman. "I'm grateful for the trust placed in me and excited to continue serving our student-athletes and department in this expanded capacity."

Christman will also provide senior level leadership and serve as the designated senior woman administrator. In this role, she will serve as a core member of the senior administrative team and will help develop the strategic priorities for the department while providing sport oversight and helping with hiring of personnel.

In her SWA role, Christman will provide advocacy for the Greyhound student-athlete experience and well-being. Christman will also continue to assist with gender-equity planning and as a representative on the campus Title IX Committee. She will serve as a representative of the University at the conference and national level.
