QUINCY, IL. – Less than 24 hours after their defeat to Upper Iowa, the No. 18 ranked UIndy wrestling team responded convincingly over Quincy with a 41-3 victory.
This is the largest margin of victory, tying last year's 38 point win over Quincy, in a GLVC dual since 2019 when UIndy took down Truman 50-3 in the GLVC Championships.
Today's win also extends the Hounds win streak against Quincy to three, which dates back to the 2022-23 season.
INS & OUTS
The freshman Jadon Gyan began the day by picking up his second win on the weekend in the 125 weight class, over Brian Farley in a close 8-4 third period decision, and earning three points for his team.
Aiden Dallinger (133) and No. 18-ranked Brayden Lowery (141) continued the strong start for the Hounds with two more wins. Dallinger earned his first win since the third round of the Midwest Classic in December, while Lowery continued his recent dominance with another pin victory, adding to his season total of six.
Gavin Garcia was given a forfeit win at 149, but Nathan Conley (157) and Kaden Lone (165) both battled it out with Hunter Vernon (157) and Jackson Jones (165). Conley finished the weekend unbeaten after his 5-3 decision win over Vernon.
Lone wrestled in the 165 weight class, compared to the 174 weight class he did against Upper Iowa on Friday. He picked up his first win today since his pin victory at the Jim Koch Open earlier this season.
Trey Sizemore continued the dominance for the Hounds with a pin at the end of the second period. This is Sizemore's first pin of the season, and his first since last season when he pinned Drury's Ethan Smith at the NCAA DII Super Regionals.
Top-12 ranked Derek Blubaugh and Cale Gray closed out the Hounds day with two complete performances, a pin for Blubaugh in the 197 weight class over Logan Colbert, while Gray delivered a three period tech fall win over Isaiah Hill.
With UIndy's win in nine of the 10 matches today, the team wrapped up a strong 38 point victory in the second dual of the Hounds two day road trip.
