Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The UIndy baseball team fell today in game one of the four game weekend series after losing 6-3 to Illinois Springfield. UIndy had won four of the last five meetings against Illinois Springfield before today's result. Â
The Hounds were led today by Cole Hampton, Ian Kennedy, and Nick Lukac who had the only three runs for UIndy in today's game.Â

UIndy only used two pitchers today, Diego Cardenas who started, and Austin Bestul who came in in relief. Both pitchers combined for eight innings pitched, and racked up 13 strikeouts.Â
The Prairie Stars had similar strikeout numbers, with 14 combined, including 11 from starting pitcher Esteban Hernandez, who came into today's game with only 13 strikeouts in total in his first four games played this season.Â
The struggles for UIndy continued today, with only four batters recording a hit today; Chase Mason, Easton Good, Hampton, and Kennedy. Kennedy got the Hounds on the board first in the second inning with an RBI double, while the next two UIndy runs came via a Hampton solo home run, and a wild pitch that scored Mason in the seventh inning.Â
UIndy left 11 batters on base, including having the bases loaded with two outs in the seventh inning, before Armen Torosian struck out. The Prairie Stars were similar with runners left on base, having 12 left on base, but knocked in five of their six runs with three solo home runs, and a two-run home run. Those six runs were enough to wrap up game one in favor of Illinois Springfield 6-3.Â
