UIndy Wins High Scoring Game One Over Maryville

ST. LOUIS – The UIndy baseball team capitalized on seven combined runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take game one of this weekend's series, 11-7 over Maryville.

This is UIndy's third straight win, and their ninth consecutive win against Maryville dating back to the 2023 season.

UIndy used Austin Bestul's dominant 4.2 innings pitched to close out this one, and keep the Saints scoreless over the final four frames. While Easton Good picked up his 14th career game with at least three hits, and his sixth career game with at least four RBIs.

Every batter in the Greyhounds' starting lineup recorded a hit today, including five who notched multi-hit games. Austin Bode, Good, Luke Smock, Nick Lukac and Tré Hondras were the five Hounds with multiple hits today.

Hondras broke open the scoring for UIndy in the fifth inning with a three-run home run to left field to tie the game at five in the fifth inning. Lukac's RBI single, Smock's two-run home run, and Good's RBI double extended UIndy's lead to 9-7 after six frames.

Carter Nowak started this one for UIndy, making his first start in game one of a series this season, and allowed six runs on seven hits over 4.1 innings today. Bestul entered a tied 6-6 game in the fifth inning, but held the Saints to no hits, no runs and picked up five strikeouts over the final 4.2 innings of today's contest.

Good's fourth RBI of the day and Joey Humphrey's single to the shortstop in the final two innings brought home the Hounds' final two runs of the game, to secure the 11-7 win over Maryville.

UIndy will play a doubleheader tomorrow against Maryville, with the first pitch set for 1 p.m., where the Hounds will look to extend their win streak.
