UIndy Drops Hard Fought Battle to Rockhurst

KANSAS CITY, MO – The UIndy men's lacrosse team dropped its first GLVC contest of the season 10-9 to Rockhurst, in a back-and-forth game that saw seven lead changes between the two teams.

Triston Schaffer led the way for the Greyhounds, racking up four goals, which marked his third game this season with at least four goals scored in a single game, while Nathan Lam recorded four points of his own with one goal and three assists.

AJ Preachuk notched his sixth game with double-digit saves on the season after he picked up 11 today.

INS & OUTS
UIndy jumped out to an 8-5 lead with 13:07 left in the third quarter, after Keegan Laughlin picked up his 11th goal of the season, but Rockhurst responded with three consecutive goals, including a goal with one second left in the third quarter to square the game at eight.

The Hawks scored to take a 9-8 lead after just 55 seconds in the fourth quarter. The Hounds and Hawks then traded goals just nine seconds apart from each other to maintain the one goal lead for Rockhurst, 10-9. Matt Periera scored UIndy's only goal of the fourth period, but they weren't short of offensive firepower.

The Hounds recorded 13 total shots in the fourth quarter. Connor Magin, Ryan Carver, Schaffer and Seamus Faulkner all had shots in the final two minutes to try and send the game to overtime, but all were wide of the mark except Magin's shot which hit the post with 54 seconds left.
