Hounds Fend Off Chargers, Snap Skid in Return to Key

INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy men's lacrosse team earned its first win in over a month on Saturday, snapping a five-game losing streak with a 14-8 victory over Alabama Huntsville at Key Stadium.

Triston Schaffer logged a game-high nine points, while AJ Preachuk made 15 saves between the pipes.

The Greyhounds improve to 5-0 all-time against the Chargers, who made their first trip to the Circle City since 2018.

INS & OUTS
UIndy took advantage of extra-man opportunities in the first half, scoring six times on five chances. Nathan Lam did the heavy lifting, recording a hat trick alone in man-up opportunities, while Matt Pereira added one in the second quarter.

The Hounds appeared to be cruising, leading 12-3 midway through the third frame. The Chargers rattled off five consecutive goals, all while holding the Greyhounds scoreless for 20 minutes, to inch within four. It was too little too late for the visitors, however, as Keegan Laughlin netted a goal late in the period before Schaffer capped the scoring with less than two minutes left.

Mitchell Carik was integral to UIndy's faceoff success, scooping up six of his ground balls to earn possession. Nat Jun helped himself with four scoops, going 10 for 15 on faceoff attempts in the win.

Ten Greyhounds tallied a point against the Chargers, including Tyler Bernarduci with a pair of assists.

INSIDE THE BOX
- Schaffer was credited with a caused turnover in the second quarter, swiping possession back in favor of the Crimson & Grey before netting his fourth goal of the afternoon.
- Ryan Carver and Connor Magin each scored on Saturday, with the latter recording his first score since March 1.
- Preachuk's 15 saves matches a season high from just two weeks ago against No. 1 Tampa.
- Seamus Faulkner joined Carik with a team-high two caused turnovers.

ON ANOTHER NOTE
UIndy officially swept Alabama Huntsville in the sport of lacrosse in 2025. The UIndy women's lacrosse team defeated UAH, 8-6, back in late February, also at Key Stadium.

UP NEXT
The Greyhounds host William Jewell for Senior Day next Saturday, April 5, for a 11 a.m. faceoff at Key Stadium.
