UIndy Athletics Announces Inaugural Chi Alpha Sigma Induction Class

INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Indianapolis athletics department joined Chi Alpha Sigma, a prestigious National College Athlete Honor Society, earlier this year and will recognize 119 student-athletes in April as part of its inaugural class.

"The University of Indianapolis Athletics Department is thrilled to be a part of Chi Alpha Sigma," said Associate A.D. for Academics and Senior Woman Administrator Andrea Walker. "We are excited to recognize and honor our student-athletes commitment to academic excellence."

The National College Athlete Honor Society was founded in May 1996 on the campus of DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind., to recognize high academic achievement among athletic participants. Additionally, student-athletes must demonstrate good citizenship and moral character.

The induction ceremony will take place on Tuesday, April 1 at 6:30 p.m. in UIndy Hall, located in the Schwitzer Center.

Walker continued: "The average GPA of our 119 inductees this year is 3.805, which is a testament to their dedication, discipline, and pursuit of excellence both on and off the field. Congratulations to this year's inductees!"

There are many benefits to induction into Chi Alpha Sigma, which recognizes the student-athletes' achievements over their entire lifetime. In addition to scholarship and awards opportunities, inductees gain access to internship opportunities and professional development. Chi Alpha Sigma has partnered with Women Leaders in Sports to create a unique career development opportunity for inductees seeking a career in athletics as either a coach or administrator.

In order to be eligible for induction, the student-athlete must be at least a junior in academic standing. The complete list of UIndy inductees can be found at the link above.
