INDIANAPOLIS – In their final home regular-season match, the No. 17 University of Indianapolis men's tennis team stumped Maryville 7-0. The sweep extends their win streak to ten matches, and improves their record to 15-3.
This afternoon also recognized the program's seniors, where Tyffaine Pais, Milan Jankovic, and Nastassia Chamoun were honored for their achievements and commitment to UIndy tennis.
Pais is currently ranked No. 25 in singles in DII tennis, and is a two-time ITA Midwest Region champion.
Jankovic and Chamoun have been paramount to the program's success over the past two years. Chamoun was the 2024 ITA Assistant Coach of the Year, who collaborated with Jankovic to help the men's team reach a rank of #1 in the nation.
INS AND OUTS
UIndy got on the board first with wins at #2 and #3 doubles. Lorenzo Di Cursi and Manu Lanteri bageled Juan Suero and Jack Quilty 6-0 in the #3 slot to open the onslaught, where Asier Ayllon Prado and Tadeo Gaggiofatto clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win over Jose Hernandez and Michael Delaloya at #2 singles.
The dominance rolled into singles play, with straight-set victories in five of six courts. Simeonov got the ball rolling first on court #1, with a 6-3 6-2 win over Hernandez.
Lanteri got the best of Lorenzo Biava at #2 singles to extend the lead to 3-0, with a 6-3 7-5 result. The top half of the Greyhound lineup when unscathed, as Ayllon Prado topped at Delaloya 6-4 6-2 at #3 singles.
Matthieu Derache continued the hot-stretch for the Hounds, dishing out a 6-2 6-0 win over Suero. Di Cursi's 6-1 6-0 victory at #6 singles put the Hounds one win away from their second-straight sweep.
It all came down to Gaggiofatto at #5 singles, where he overcame Quilty in a 10-game tiebreaker, with a 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 victory.
