INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy baseball team earned the No. 6 spot in the latest NCAA Division II Midwest Regional rankings, released Wednesday. The Greyhounds would be in the regional field if the tournament started today, with the top seven teams from the Midwest region all vying for a spot in the NCAA Tournament field.
The complete field of teams will be announced on NCAA.com on Sunday, May 11, with the NCAA DII Midwest Regional set to begin on Thursday May 15 and run through Saturday May 18. The top two seeds from each region will each host part of a seven-team double-elimination bracket games, with the winners of both sections of the bracket to then play a best-of-three series on May 22-24 in the NCAA DII Midwest Super Regional.
Similar to
last week's release of teams, the same four GLVC schools all made an appearance in this week's rankings. The top two teams,
UIndy and Lewis are set to play a four-game series starting Friday, that will not only determine the outcome of seeding in the GLVC tournament, but also the Midwest regional rankings.
