The UIndy baseball team is set to host "K-Out for Cancer" on Friday, April 11 against Truman. Also the baseball program's Back The Pack date, the event is focused on supporting senior pitcher Dawson Gabe, who last year was diagnosed with testicular cancer and is currently undergoing treatment.
There will be multiple ways to support to Dawson and his battle with cancer, including the team selling "K-Out for Cancer" t-shirts. There will be 200 shirts available for purchase on the day of the game, with proceeds going directly to the Gabe family.
Hunter's Choice—a business owned by Gary and Lori Redden, parents of UIndy catcher Parker Redden—will also be in attendance, selling ribeye steak sandwiches, West Virginia-style hot dogs, and select barbecue options. Along with providing food options, the Reddens will also be holding a silent auction for four tickets to the St. Louis Cardinals game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on June 7 at Busch Stadium.

Additionally, UIndy students will also be able to receive Lecture-Performance (LP) credit for attending the "K-Out for Cancer" event, with the first 60 receiving a free "Back the Pack" t-shirt. Back the Pack is a newly-conceived initiative designed to highlight a specific event for each UIndy Athletics program, similar to Homecoming and Pack the House. This includes the baseball, softball, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, men's tennis, and women's tennis programs. Additionally, there will be a special sendoff for the golf and track & field programs.
