NCAA DII MIDWEST REGIONAL
vs No. 5 Ashland Eagles (37-17)
Thursday, May 15, 12 p.m.
The UIndy baseball team officially punched their ticket to the NCAA Division II Baseball Regional for the third consecutive year, the NCAA Division II Baseball Committee announced on Sunday night. The Greyhounds earned the No. 4 seed in the Midwest Regional bracket, and will be heading to Grand Rapids, MI., where they will take on the No. 5 seeded Ashland Eagles. Davenport earned the right to host as the No. 1 overall seed after winning on a walk off three-run home run in the 11th inning of the GLIAC Tournament championship game.
The Hounds went 1-2 respectively at the GLVC Tournament this past weekend, but with their strong strength of schedule and high PI ranking, earned the second-highest ranking among all GLVC teams in the Midwest bracket, only behind No. 3 seed Lewis.
The other half of the Midwest bracket will be hosted by No. 2 seed Grand Valley, who will be playing the GLVC Tournament champion Missouri S&T, with the winner of that match up taking on either GLVC regular season champion, Lewis, or GMAC Tournament champion Northwood. Both double-elimination Midwest Regionals will be played at the same time Thursday through Saturday, with the winners facing off in a best-of-three showdown at the Midwest Super Regional May 22-24 at the campus site of the higher seeded team. The winner of the Midwest Super Regional will then head to Cary, N.C. for the NCAA DII Championships May 30-June 7.
