NEW ORLEANS - Five members of the UIndy men's and women's track and field teams were named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's (USTFCCCA) Midwest All-Region teams. The top-five individuals in each event from each region earn All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-three ranked relay team.
Â
Josue Le Cadre earned All-Region accolades in two events, the 800m and 1500m. Le Cadre set new school records in both events this year. He recently won the 800m and placed second in the 1500m at the GLVC Championships. In the 800m, the sophomore had the best time in the region and was named a Top Regional Performer.
Felix Rivet was also named a Top Regional Performer for his efforts in the 3000m steeplechase. Rivet, along with Le Cadre, will be the only track athletes to compete at Nationals for the Hounds.
Â
Joining the French duo on the Midwest All-Region team from the men's squad is
Alex Meyer. Meyer earned his spot in the long jump. The sophomore will also return to the National Championship to compete in the event.
Â
From the women's team,
Ellie Lengerich and
Zoe Pentecost garnered a spot on the Midwest team and earned Top Regional Performer Accolades. Lengerich was named after her record-breaking performance in the heptathlon at the GLVC Conference Championship meet. Pentecost returns to the list in the hammer throw.
