MARION, Ill. –  The UIndy baseball team had four Greyhounds honored at the annual GLVC baseball Awards ceremony Tuesday night. Outfielder Austin Bode was announced to the All-GLVC first team, while Austin Bestul and Nick Lukac were announced to the All-GLVC second team, and Diego Cardenas was recognized on the All-GLVC honorable mention list. 

Bode joins an extensive list of Greyhounds to be named to the All-GLVC first team, becoming the 68th Greyhound to included on the All-GLVC first team. With Bode's selection this year he also extends the Hounds' streak to six straight years of having a player on the first team list. Bode slashed a .419 batting average, a 1.237 OPS, and a .727 slugging percentage. He also lead the conference in doubles (22), and ranked top-20 in; home runs (9), hits (72), RBis (43) and runs scored (45). 

Lukac made an appearance on the All-GLVC second team as he is top-15 in doubles (15), hits (62), runs scored (45), RBIs (49), and triples (5) in the conference. This is Lukac's first appearance on the All-GLVC list in his three year career with UIndy.

Bestul joins Lukac on the All-GLVC second team after a stellar regular season as the Hounds' main relief pitcher. Bestul notched a career best 5.74 ERA in 42.1 innings pitched, recording eight wins, which is the most wins of any Greyhounds' pitcher this season, and made eight appearances where he recorded no runs allowed. 

The final Greyhound to make an appearance on the All-GLVC list is Cardenas, who is being represented on the honorable mention list. Cardenas has put together a great season on the bump for UIndy, posting a single season career best 77 punch outs over 12 appearances. Along with those 77 strikeouts, he also had seven quality starts, and eight starts with at least six strike outs.  
 
The league also recognized one student-athlete from each team as honorees for the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award, with senior Cole Hampton earning the nod for the Hounds. The student-athletes chosen are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These individuals must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. The honorees are now eligible to become one of their school's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners.

The Greyhounds begin their quest to a third GLVC tournament title tomorrow against Drury at 10 a.m. EST.
