LIBERTY, MO. – The UIndy men's soccer team got back to their winning ways on Friday night in the team's 3-0 win over William Jewell.  Â
Tonight's win extends the Hounds' unbeaten streak to 15 which dates back to the team's first meeting against each other in 2011.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Things got going early for the Greyhounds, when a clipped pass from Alvaro Sanchez found the streaking Kabiru Gafar for a flick header attempt that looped over the goalkeeper's head to put UIndy in front 1-0
Sanchez and Gafar almost doubled the Hounds' lead just minutes later as two attempts from Sanchez, and another from Gafar were all denied by William Jewell's Umberto DiCarlo.
Gafar doubled UIndy's lead with just over 12 minutes to go until halftime, after a corner kick from Gio Terlizzi was deflected and fired home by Gafar.
Neither team created many chances in the second half, until Sanchez and Gafar once again linked up for the Hounds' third goal of the match. Gafar had two successive efforts saved by Umberto, before his layoff pass to Sanchez was buried to give UIndy a 3-0 lead with seven minutes to play.
Keerti Unnamatla was rarely phased all night, but made an important save to keep the clean sheet off a Mathew Drinkhouse free kick that was comfortably caught by Unnamatla to secure the clean sheet and the 3-0 UIndy win.
