Greyhounds Challenge Peacocks in Road Loss

INDIANAPOLIS - The UIndy women's soccer team fell 1-0 in a road battle against the Upper Iowa University Peacocks.

From the first whistle UIndy went at the Peacock's defense. Maggie Mentzer was the first player to take a shot with five shots raining in from the Greyhounds before the Peacocks found their first.

Three of those first five shots for UIndy were on target, but were stopped before they found the back of the net.

It was a different story for the Peacocks who were limited offensively, but their first shot ended in the back of the net to give the Peacocks the lead.

The Greyhounds responded with a pair of shots entering half, but remained down one.

The second half saw even more shots from the Greyhounds, taking 12 in the second half and having six ending up on target. Their 12 shots in just the second half is more than all but one game entering the matchup, they had 15 in the win over William Jewell, but were unable to find any in the net.

The 19 shots and 10 on goal are the most in each category in the Nick Smith era. The 10 shots on goal was also the most since Oct. 13, 2024 when they had 15 in a win over Missouri S&T.

Mia Bajic led the team with a career-high five shots and was tied for the team-lead in shots on goal with two. Nicole Schroeder and Emily DeWitt were the other Hounds with two shots on goal.

The Greyhounds will return home Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 5 p.m. when they take on the Lewis Flyers for their Breast Cancer Awareness match.
