LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Indianapolis volleyball team is spending its sixth straight week in the AVCA Tereflex Division II top 25,it was announced Monday.
After a 2-1 weekend at the Midwest Region Crossover, the Hounds check in at No. 23 in this week's coaches poll. UIndy boasts a 19-3 record for a .864 win-loss percentage, which leads the GLVC.
The UIndy defense holds its opponents to a .147 hitting percentage, ranking first in the league. The Hounds also sit atop the conference in assists per set (13.73), hitting percentage (.283), and kills per set (14.47.). Indianapolis is among the top in DII ranking in the top 10 in three statistical categories; second in assists per set, third in kills per set and ninth in hitting percentage.
Senior defensive specialist Macy Bruton ranks 14th in the nation and second in the league in digs/set, averaging 5.25 for the Hounds this season. The senior also sits third in the conference in total digs with 399 through the Hounds' 21 matches. Senior middle Allison Jansen sits fourth in the conference in blocks per set with 1.00 and sixth in the GLVC in hitting percentage, hitting from a .339 clip.
On the offensive side, outside hitter Maddie Lynch sits atop the GLVC in kills/set, averaging 4.05, and second in points/per set, giving the Hounds 4.36 per set. The junior also ranks top 10 in the GLVC in three other categories, sitting third in total kills with 296, seventh in attacks/set (8.64), and fifth in hitting percentage (.349) and 10th in total attacks (631.)
The Hounds return to action Friday, Oct. 23, in Lebanon, Ill., taking on McKendree at 7 p.m. ET.
