INDIANAPOLIS – After picking up two key region wins at the M
idwest Region Crossover last week, the UIndy volleyball team grabbed the region's No. 4 spot in the newly-released
NCAA Power Index (NPI) Monday. New to Division II this year, NPI evaluates a team's season by considering both results and the strength of the teams it plays.
Â
The primary purpose of NPI is to compare teams within Division II for ranking and NCAA championship selection. Once automatic qualifiers are determined, remaining teams are considered for at-large selection based on NPI ranking until the championship field is filled. NPI may also play a role in championship seeding. Seeding and bracketing procedures vary by division and sport. Click/tap the links above for more information.
Â
The next set of volleyball rankings will be published on Oct. 26, followed by Nov. 2. After Nov. 2, rankings will be updated daily until selections. The NCAA DII women's volleyball selection show is set to air on NCAA.com on Sunday, Nov. 15.
