Greyhounds Take Down Cardinals, 45-10

LIBERTY, Mo. – The UIndy football team knocked off conference-leading William Jewell Saturday afternoon, handing the host Cardinals a 45-10 defeat. The Greyhounds earned their first win in GLVC play this year—also Head Coach Chris Keevers' 60th—by excelling in all three phases of the game.

UP NEXT
UIndy returns to Key Stadium to welcome the Miners of Missouri S&T for its annual Homecoming game next weekend. Kickoff is set for Saturday, Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. ET.

INS & OUTS
The Greyhounds landed two haymakers in the first half, including an 87-yard touchdown strike from Nick Patterson to Taylor Clark on the first play from scrimmage. In the second quarter, Patterson found Garrett Sherrell in stride, who took it 55 yards to the house and put the Hounds up 21-3 heading into the break.

Any Cardinal hopes of generating some momentum in the second half were all but stifled by three UIndy interceptions down the stretch, including two third-quarter picks from linebacker TJ Cothron. Cothron's second INT set up a one-yard rushing TD by Sherrell—his second score of the day. Freshmen receivers Trevy Barber and Jaiden Henry each tacked on a fourth-quarter TD receptions—both good for personal firsts.

INSIDE THE BOX
-Cothron's two-interception day was the first by a Greyhound this season and first since his teammate Eli Liapis had a pair of picks last November versus Quincy.
-Sophomore Andrew Herron launched three punts of 50 yards or more, two of which were downed inside the five-yard line.
-Clark's lengthy touchdown catch marked UIndy's longest since Jon Eineman's 87-yarder versus McKendree in October of 2021.
-Freshman DB and Indy native Elijah Woodfork added his first collegiate interception in the fourth quarter to help seal it.
-Freshman kicker Zach Hermanson made good on his only field goal attempt—a 27-yarder in the third quarter—and was 6-for-6 on PATs.
-Back-up QB Clay Hayden tossed the Hounds' final touchdown pass of the day—his first career TD throw.

MORE NOTES
