DEWITT, Ill. – The UIndy triathlon team earned a third-place overall finish Saturday at the Prairie State Cup, surging behind a pair of top-five individual performances from Geraldine Vazques (2nd, 1:03:50) and
Abby Poe (5th, 1:04:58).

The Greyhounds placed second among DII institutions, picking up 249 points compared to Drury's 300 and Black Hill State's 150.

The top UIndy tandem both ran out of the water first in just over 11 minutes to put themselves in good favor for the final two legs. Following a 32:26 effort on the bike, Vazquez ended on a high note with the third-fastest running time and place runner-up.

Haley Uberta (28th, 1:13:37) and
Nadia Beran (29th, 1:14:37) crossed the finish line in the top 30, just one minute separating the teammates. Beran was one of just 19 athletes to record a sub-13 swim.
