Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

UIndy Bested by 4th-Ranked Seton Hill

INDIANAPOLIS — The UIndy men's lacrosse team fell to fourth-ranked Seton Hill, 10-9, in a closely contested matchup on Saturday at Key Stadium. The Greyhounds, led by FOGOs Jonah Koehler and TTJ Reddington, dominated at the faceoff dot, winning 17-of-23 efforts against their Griffin counterparts.

Three of the last four meetings, and four of the past six, have been decided by one goal. Seton Hill now leads the all-time series, 5-4.

UIndy opened the first quarter with a strong start, as Nick Luitwieler scored the first goal at 14:09. The team maintained momentum by winning multiple faceoffs, allowing them to control early possession. Despite several saves by Seton Hill's goalie, Will Cody, Indianapolis capitalized on opportunities with Matt Pereira scoring twice, including a critical goal with just 12 seconds remaining in the quarter, assisted by Amadeo Miller. Notably, three of the last four meetings between these teams have been decided by just one goal, highlighting the close nature of their contests.

The second quarter began with UIndy capitalizing on an extra-man opportunity, as Tanner Hahm scored early to push Indianapolis ahead. Despite Seton Hill's attempts to clear and regain momentum, Indianapolis's defense, led by AJ Preachuk between the pipes, kept opposing shots at bay.

Seton Hill managed to find the back of the net twice, first with Tiernan Lynch and later with Kaden Granberg, which allowed them to take a narrow lead. Indianapolis continued to press offensively, with multiple shooting attempts from players like Connor Magin and Miller, but Seton Hill's goalie, Cody, made crucial saves to maintain their advantage.

Reddington opened the second half with a bang, earning a clean win on the faceoff before finding the back of the cage to tie the game at fives. Seton Hill responded quickly with a goal by Michael Coleman at 12:10, followed by another from Carter Li on a man-up opportunity, which briefly shifted the lead to 7-5 in favor of the visitors.

Mason Rockley brought the Hounds back within one at 8-7 to build momentum heading into the final quarter. Seton Hill managed to capitalize on a turnover, with Lynch scoring at 8:46, assisted by Coleman, extending the visitors' lead to 10-7.

Keegan Laughlin finally broke through for the home side, scoring at 1:36 after a ground ball pickup by Dalton Yates. Laughlin struck again with 37 seconds remaining to close the gap back to one. Despite the late rally, and the final shot attempt, the Griffins held on for the road win.

Amadeo Miller scored once and added two assists, while Laughlin tallied two goals on seven shots. Pereira also recorded two goals, converting all three of his shot attempts. In the face-off circle, Koehler won 12 for 15 face-offs and Reddington earned five wins on seven attempts.

The Hounds remain in search for the 100th win in program history, hitting the road for back-to-back contests until opening GLVC action near the end of March. UIndy visits in-region Alabama Huntsville next Saturday for a 1 p.m. bout.
