Hounds Reach Century Win Mark in Dominant Victory Over UAH

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.— The University of Indianapolis men's Lacrosse program reached the 100-win mark, defeating the University of Alabama Huntsville 19-8 on Saturday.

Saturday's win is just the ninth time in program history that UIndy has scored 19 goals in a single game. Eight Hounds found the back of the net, led by Matt Pereira with a career-high five goals on the day.

INS & OUTS
The Greyhounds wasted no time getting the scoring started with Tanner Hahm finding the first goal of the day less than two minutes into the contest off an assist by Keegan Laughlin

UIndy found two more goals less than one minute after Hahm's opening goal. Mike Rettberg netted his first of the day after Jonah Koehler won the faceoff that was picked up by Mitchell Carik. Tyler Bernarduci scooped up a ground ball after his first caused turnover of the day to make way for Amadeo Miller's first goal of the match.

The Hounds would find four more goals in the opening period, with Pereira reaching a hat-trick within five minutes of gameplay.

The Chargers netted their only goal of the first half just over a minute into the third period, but the Hounds were able to replicate their first-quarter scoring, finding seven more goals in the second.

UIndy netted back-to-back goals from Pereira and Rettberg off of assists from Bernarduci and Conner Magin to bring their lead to eight.

Calen Tucker found his first goal for the Crimson and Grey off of Hahm's third assist of the contest. Junior Mason Rockley found the back of the net to bring the Hounds a 10-goal lead before setting up Miller for his second goal of the game. Miller found the next goal for the Hounds, before Rettberg scored the final one of the first half, giving both first-half hat-tricks.

The Chargers were able to net four in the third period, but goals from Hahm, Rettberg, and Miller kept the Hounds up 12 with one quarter to go.

Sophomore Ryan Carver netted his first goal of the season off a shot up the middle in the final period.

UAH was able to find three consecutive goals in the final seven minutes of the contest, but could not overcome the powerful first half from UIndy.

Pereira scored the final goal with just 10 seconds remaining off an assist from Trent Taylor to bring the Hounds' lead back to 11.
