ST. LOUIS — The No. 19 ranked Greyhounds took a trip to Norwood Hills Country Club to take part in the UMSL Spring Invitational, and came away with a top-5 finish.Â
This top five finish for UIndy today gives the team its third straight top five finish, and its sixth of the 2025-26 season. Along with a fifth place team finish, the Hounds also received a solo fifth placed finish from Macey Brown, her highest finish since the Intercollegiate at Nemacolin in the fall. Brown also added the 12th top-10 finish to her name in her Greyhound career.Â
This weekend's event is the third straight finish inside the top-5 of the UMSL Spring Invitational, dating back to 2023 when the Greyhounds won the event by five strokes.
INS & OUTS
After round one, Brown found herself in tie for 24th after an opening round 77, but was able to better her score each round, following up her 77 with a 76 before firing home a closing round, 68 (-4), which vaulted her 18 spots into a fifth place finish. Brown's final round was highlighted by a birdie-eagle-birdie stretch to begin her round, which featured a hole out eagle on the par-4 seventh hole.Â
Right behind Brown was Paige Giovenco who added an eighth top-20 to her freshman year campaign after a T17 (+13) after rounds of 75-77-74. She finished her final round with five birdies, including three in her first four holes of golf on Monday.Â
Abby Stone and Lucile Ceolin both garnered top-30 finishes with a 24th (+16) and 27th (+17) place finish, respectively. Stone continues to improve her finishes since returning from injury at the Battle at Hilton Head in February, where she finished 46th.
Rounding out the five team lineup for the Greyhounds was Caroline Whallon who finished with a T43 (+26), while Valentina Cortez competed as an individual this week, finishing with a T30 (+19).Â
