Hounds Fall Short Sunday, Drop Series to Tritons

 INDIANAPOLIS — The University of Indianapolis baseball team (24-18, 15-9) fell to the University of Missouri-St. Louis (23-18, 17-7) with a final score of 10–7 on Sunday at Bill Bright Field. Despite the Greyhounds collecting nine hits, including four doubles, they could not overcome the Tritons' late three-run 10th inning.

Ryan O'Born pitched 6 innings, allowing 6 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 4 batters and not issuing any walks. Drake Downing pitched 3 2/3 innings, conceding 3 earned runs on 3 hits and 3 walks.

INS& OUTS
Indianapolis fell behind early as Mo.-St. Louis capitalized on an error to score three unearned runs in the first inning. The Greyhounds responded with a pair of runs in the bottom half when Chase Mason's double drove in Bret Perry, followed by Brayton Bowen's RBI double, narrowing the deficit to 3–2 after the first.

In the second inning, Joey Humphrey's walk set up Austin Bode's RBI double, tying the game at 3–3. Indianapolis regained the lead in the fourth when Carter Thomas scored on an RBI groundout by Bode, making it 4–4 through four innings.

Both teams scored in the fifth inning, with Indianapolis' Bowen scoring on a bases-loaded walk to Thomas, maintaining a 5–5 tie. The Tritons broke the deadlock in the seventh, scoring two runs on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly, taking a 7–5 lead.

The Greyhounds responded in the eighth with Gavin Duran's two-run triple, bringing home Bode and Humphrey to level the game at 7–7. However, Mo.-St. Louis pulled away in the tenth inning, scoring three runs, including on a single by LJ Randle and a two-RBI single by Justin Terhaar, securing a 10–7 victory for the Tritons.

Bode tallied two RBIs, contributing significantly to the team's offensive efforts. Duran also recorded two RBIs, adding to the team's scoring. Bowen finished with three hits, leading the team in this category. Mason posted two hits and added an RBI, showcasing his ability to get on base and drive in runs.
