INDIANAPOLIS – The fourth-ranked UIndy softball team showcased their dominance Sunday in a doubleheader against the University of Illinois Springfield at Baumgartner Field, winning both games decisively by scores of 9-1 and 11-2. In a rematch of
last year's GLVC Tournament title game, the Greyhounds combined for 20 runs versus the visiting Prairie Stars, racking up eight extra base hits—including three homers—while compiling a .629 team on-base percentage.
The game 1 victory gave the Hounds 50 for the season, good for the program's sixth 50-win campaign and third in the last four years. They currently rank second in Division II in wins since 2023.

UIndy secured an early lead with a 2-1 advantage after
Brooklyn Willis homered to left field and
Peyton Cusack scored on a walk by
Sydney Oliver in the first inning. The third inning saw
Cara Cooper extend the lead with a home run to center, followed by a single from
Maya Rodriguez and a double from

Cook drove in a game-high four runs, while Cusack scored twice and had two hits. The latter finished 7-for-8 in the four games this weekend, adding four walks, two doubles and successful sacrifice bunt.
GAME 2 | UIndy 11, UIS 2 (5 innings)
The second game began with an explosive first inning, as UIndy scored five runs. Willis and Eads both walked, leading to Cooper being hit by a pitch, loading the bases for
Maya Rodriguez, who doubled down the right field line, driving in two runs. Jager's single added another run, followed by
Caitlin Bunte's two-run double, bringing the score to 5-1. The Greyhounds continued their offensive onslaught, adding two runs in the second and four more in the third, resulting in an 11-1 lead before UIS added a final run in the fifth, ending the game at 11-2.
Bunte (25-1) pitched three strong innings, allowing two hits and one earned run while striking out four batters.
Hailey Thompson followed with two innings, striking out five of the 10 batters she faced.
