INS & OUTS
After Lewis managed a three-run home run in the third, the Hounds responded with a five-spot in the top of the fourth to take the lead for good. A walk (
Garrett Rusch), a hit by pitch (
Joey Humphrey) and an infield single (
Carter Thomas) set the table for Bode, who lifted a 1-2 pitch over the fence to put the Hounds in front and chase starting pitcher Luke Brown.
UIndy went on to hang crooked numbers in each of the final four inning of the contest. Bode made it consecutive ABs with a home run, plating three more runs with another blast in the fourth.
Bret Perry and
Chase Mason each had a two-run single in the sixth, and Mason later drove in two more with a seventh-inning double.
On the mound,
Ryan O'Born (2-0) got the win with six solid innings of work. He scattered seven hits while striking out three.
Brady Leonard tossed a scoreless seventh to seal the victory.
Bode finished with eight ribbies, matching the season high for any GLVC player this spring. It also marked the highest total by a Greyhound since Ben Sondgeroth drove in eight in a 2009 GLVC Tournament win over Bellarmine.
Mason also tied a GLVC season high with five base hits while adding four RBIs. Duran coaxed three walks, and
Solen Munson also had a walk and was twice hit by a pitch.
