INDIANAPOLIS - The UIndy women's soccer team fell in their second home game of the season 5-1 to the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
The UIndy defense was tested early and often with Samaya Hogg stepping up throughout to keep the Greyhounds close in the first half. Eight minutes into the matchup Hogg saw the first shot on goal of the game which she stopped, setting the tone for the first 35 minutes.
Over the next fifteen minutes both teams battled in the midfield with UMSL finding a couple of shots on goal over that time span with Hogg being a rock in the net. As the match moved forward, so did UMSL, who scored their first goal in the 35th minute.
After some back-and-forth play, UMSL snuck in a goal in the waning moments of the first half, going up 2-0 with one second left in the first half.
The second half picked up where the first half ended with UMSL finding a trio of goals over the course of the second half, before the Hounds looked to cut closer with a few shots late in the contest.
Shots rang in from Mia Bajic and Kate O'Neill which were stopped by the UMSL keeper. However, Mia Bajic stole back possession and found the first goal of her career, cutting the deficit back to four in the 85th minute.
Samaya Hogg finished the game with eight saves, the second most in her career.
The Hounds will return to action on the road as they take on Drury this Saturday, Sept. 19th at 1 p.m.
