INDIANAPOLIS - The UIndy women's soccer team fell on the road 3-1 to the Drury University Panthers.
The Greyhounds brought their tough first half offense to Drury, allowing four shots, but preventing any from making their way on target. Similarly, their offense finished the first half with one shot, but it was sent towards goal before being saved.
As the halftime horn rang both teams had answered some of their questions entering the matchup and looked to take the lessons learned into the second half.Â
Straight out of half the Hounds fired off a shot that was just off target before Drury quickly moved into the UIndy half.
The Panthers sent in a barrage of shots in the 48th minute, ultimately finding the opening goal of the game after three shot attempts across a 40 second period.
UIndy then battled back, finding their response six minutes later courtesy of Emily DeWitt's second in the last three games. DeWitt found the back of the net off of Shelby Rugg's first assist as a Greyhound.
The Hounds hunted for the lead with a pair of shots over the next eight minutes before the Panthers stole back the lead in the 65th minute before closing the door in the 82nd.
The Hounds will return to action on the road as they take on McKendree Wednesday, Sept. 23rd at 6 p.m.
