INDIANAPOLIS – In a battle of Super Region 3 contenders, the No. 9 UIndy football team dropped a 30-10 decision at home to 15th-ranked Findlay. The visiting Oilers managed to keep the Greyhounds scoreless in the second half, pulling away to earn a key region victory.
 
UP NEXT
The Hounds have their first road trip on tap, as they'll head to Grand Rapids, Mich., to battle the Panthers of Davenport University on Saturday, Sept. 12. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m.
 
INS & OUTS
Down six points early in the second quarter, a defensive three-and-out followed by a good punt return by Anthony Crowell flipped the field to give the Hounds the ball in their own territory. Crowell made another big play on the first snap of the drive, high-pointing the ball for a 36-yard gain that put UIndy in the red zone. Garrett Sherrell later capped the possession with a nine-yard TD run, bouncing it to the outside and winning the race to the pylon.
 
UIndy tacked on a 33-yard field goal by Andrew Herron, but the Oilers added a pair of second-quarter touchdowns to take a 20-10 edge into the half.
 
Neither team managed to score in the third quarter, but the Oilers' touchdowns early in the fourth made it a three-score game, keeping the Hounds at arm's length the rest of the way.
 
INSIDE THE BOX
- Crowell racked up a game-high 126 all-purpose yards.
- Standout safety Eli Liapis led the team with nine tackles, with linebacker TJ Cothron adding eight.
- Seven different Greyhounds caught a pass on the afternoon.
- D-lineman David Wuske was credited with a tackle for a loss and two quarterback hurries.
- QB Nick Patterson finished 20-for-33 passing for 193 yards.
- Sophomore kicker Andrew Herron had five punts og 50-plus yards, including a career-best 65 yarder.

In a series that first started back in 1955, UIndy is now 11-7 all-time versus Findlay … UF fifth-year receiver Delon Hurt finished with eight catches for 124 yards and a TD.
