INDIANAPOLIS - The UIndy women's triathlon team opened third regular season with a home race at Ruth Lilly Fitness Center. The event consisted of a 400-yard pool swim and a 5K run around campus. Other teams joining the event were Trine University, Northern Kentucky University, and Chicago State University.
The Greyhounds won the NCAA portion, earning 106 points. The complete results can be found

Additionally, UIndy celebrated its three seniors on Sunday:
Geraldine Vazquez,
Sydney Rhodehamel, and
Nadia Beran.
Vazquez defended her title from the spring event, crossing the line in 24:45. Vazquez clocked both the fastest swim and run time of the day. Coming out of the pool next to Vazquez was freshman Abby Poe, who finished third on the day in a time of 26:07. Rounding out the scorers for UIndy and joining the sub-30 crew were
Haley Uberta (27:52 in sixth), Heidi Bloomer (28:36 in ninth) and Darby Cottrell (29:20 in 10th).

Doug Robinson said, "We wanted to be both competitive and relaxed having fun today in front of a fantastic home crowd and the team did a great job of finding that middle ground. We have never had such a big cheering section and we really appreciate all of the UIndy students, parents and fans who came out to make our one and only home meet special and exciting."
Notably, UIndy Tennis head coach Malik Tabet competed in the non-NCAA portion, as did current graduate assistant and former Greyhound student-athlete
Mathieu Derache.
The Hounds are back in action next weekend at the Lake Mississinewa Collegiate Cup race on Saturday, September 12, at 7:50 a.m. in Peru, Ind.
