INDIANAPOLIS- The 25th-ranked University of Indianapolis volleyball team (24-7) made quick work of Urbana Tuesday night at the Ruth Lilly Center. In their final non-conference match of the year, the Greyhounds downed the visiting Blue Knights in just 65 minutes, 25-12, 25-16, 25-14, in straight sets. All 14 Greyhounds saw court time and combined for a season-high 15 service aces.
UIndy limited Urbana (7-22) to just 18 kills and a .123 hitting percentage on the match, as the Blue Knights failed to score more than 16 points in any one set. Conversely, UIndy hit at a .362 clip with 44 kills and just 10 attack errors.
Cheneta Morrison hit .400 and paced all players with 11 kills, Lyndsay Callahan had nine kills and seven digs, and Jessica Breeden totaled seven kills and three total blocks.
Breeden and freshman Kara McCarthy tallied four aces apiece while Callahan added three.
Senior Beth Robbins registered 27 assists and four digs in two sets of play. Freshman Kaity Frost assumed the setter's role in the final set and collected 10 kills, three digs and an ace.
With just four matches remaining before the conference tournament, UIndy enters the final stretch of its regular-season schedule. All four contests are against GLVC East foes, three of which coming on the road. The Hounds first travel to Wisconsin-Parkside Halloween night for an 8 p.m. start.
Note: The Hounds have jumped out to a 5-0 first-set lead in each of the last three matches, all on Beth Robbins' opening service turn.
