DIMONDALE, Mich.- The 12th-ranked University of Indianapolis volleyball team downed a talented Saginaw Valley State team Saturday in five sets, 24-26, 25-20, 25-22, 23-25, 16-14, in its third and final match at the 2009 Asics GLIAC-GLVC Crossover.  The Greyhounds (26-1) won all three matches in Dimondale, Mich. to up their win streak to 12 straight.

All five of the sets were decided by no more than five points.  After Saginaw (15-7) squeaked out the first set by a 26-24 count, UIndy took the next two, aided by a .483 hitting percentage in the third.

The Cardinals responded with a close 25-23 win in the fourth frame and quickly went up 2-0 in the fifth.  But fourth straight kills from UIndy, including two from Kristina Hefferan, grabbed  the lead for the Hounds.

SVSU would not see the lead again, as the Hounds held off the physically-imposing Cardinals.  Saginaw erased a three-point disadvantage late to tie it at 14 apiece, but a service error followed a block by Cheneta Morrison and Courtney Anglemyer sealed the victory for the Greyhounds.

The contest was a rematch of a season-opening Aug. 28 meeting between the squads, one the Greyhounds took in four.  UIndy is now 6-0 versus GLIAC teams this season.

Hannah Kelzer led the Hounds with 13 kills and a .333 hitting percentage.  Hefferan finished with seven big kills off the bench and Amy Telezyn scooped 13 digs.

UIndy was one of  four Great Lakes Valley Conference teams (Lewis, Bellarmine and UW-Parkside) to post an undefeated mark at the annual volleyball crossover tournament.  However, the GLIAC retained the traveling trophy for the second consecutive year with a 24-21 advantage in the event which pits each GLVC and each GLIAC team in key regional matchups.

Indianapolis junior Lyndsay Callahan earned all-tournament honors, as the Greyhound outside hitter notched a pair of double-doubles while averaging 2.7 kills and 2.9 digs per set in three matches.

UIndy returns to conference play with a pair of GLVC matches at the Ruth Lilly Center this weekend, starting with Bellarmine this Friday at 7 p.m.
