Volleyball advances to GLVC final

ROMEOVILLE, Ill.- Thanks to a lofty .391 team hitting percentage, the 19th-ranked UIndy volleyball team (25-7) earned a three-set win versus Southern Indiana in the semifinals of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Saturday evening.  The win puts the Greyhounds in the conference finals for the third time in four years.

The second-seeded Hounds bombed on USI, killing 48 balls against just five attack errors.  UIndy also had nine team blocks compared to just one from the Screaming Eagles (18-11).

Offensively, the Greyhounds were led by Kristina Hefferan.  The junior hit .625 with a match-high 17 kills, while also adding three digs and three block assists.

Senior Cheneta Morrison notched another double-double with 41 assists and 12 digs.  Senior Lyndsay Callahan (pictured) and Amy Oldenburg had 16 digs and 13 digs, respectively.

UIndy awaits the winner of tonight's second semifinal, as top-seeded and host Lewis takes on No. 5 seed Missouri-St. Louis.  Sunday's final is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. Eastern.
