DETROIT, Mich.-  In its final road game of the season, the UIndy football team (5-5, 4-5 GLIAC) came up short versus 24th-ranked Wayne State Saturday, falling 41-27 at Adams Field.  The Warriors scored the game's first 20 points on the way to snapping the Greyhounds' two-game winning streak.

Despite throwing an interception on their first play from scrimmage, the Warriors' offense started clicking early, especially the running game.  WSU (8-2, 7-2) jumped out to a 20-point lead before the Greyhounds could get on the board, with two rushing touchdowns and two field goals accounting for the whole of the Warriors' first-half scoring.

The Greyhounds punted on each of their first five drives before getting the ball with 3:09 left in the half and driving 68 yards on 11 plays for their first score.

Starting quarterback Chris Mills sustained an injury early in the drive, but junior Rob Doyle came on to lead the Hounds to pay dirt, finding fellow-junior Ryan Forney for a seven-yard touchdown strike just before halftime.

Trailing 20-7 out of the break, the experienced Doyle remained under center for the visitors.  After the defense forced a three-and-out on the initial second-half series, Doyle orchestrated another touchdown drive, this time taking the team 72 yards in eight snaps.

Doyle connected with Forney for a 16-yard gain to convert a third and long, and later hit Mar'Quone Edmonds (pictured) in the end zone from 30 yards out, cutting the deficit to six.

The Warriors answered right back with a TD of their own, however, pushing the lead back to 13.

The opponents continued to trade points the rest of the way.  Less a missed extra point late in the fourth quarter, the Hounds played the Warriors to a stalemate in the second half, but WSU's first half lead proved too much to overcome.

Both Forney and Edmonds earned a second receiving touchdown.  Doyle finished 21-for-27 for 237 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions.

The Greyhounds finish the 2010 regular season with a home game versus GLIAC-newcomer Ohio Dominican next week, marking the first-ever meeting between the two teams.  Kickoff from Key Stadium is scheduled for 2 p.m.
