KENOSHA, Wis.-  The ninth-ranked Indianapolis volleyball team opened Great Lakes Valley Conference  play with a 3-1 loss at Wisconsin-Parkside Friday night.  The Greyhounds (7-3, 0-1 GLVC) took the first set but failed to win again, as the Rangers defeated UIndy for the first time since 2002.

The Hounds cruised past their hosts with a 25-18 win in the first stanza but failed to record another set win.

UIndy led 14-13 in the second before the Rangers (6-3, 0-1) finished on an impressive 12-1 run to knot it at one set apiece.

The final two frames took more than the normal 25 points to decide.  The third saw UIndy come back from a 24-20 deficit only to lose 26-24.  Later, the Hounds squandered four set points in the fourth set before the Rangers secured the win.

One bright spot came when senior Lyndsay Callahan hit the 1,500-career-dig mark.  Her match-high 19 digs made her just the third Greyhound ever to reach the milestone.

Cheneta Morrison also crossed a career milestone by surpassing 1,900 assists with her 36-assist effort Friday.

Sophomore Kourtney Crawford amassed 12 kills and a .345 hitting percentage.

The road does not get any kinder to UIndy, as the Hounds travel south to the Chicago area to face the 10th-ranked Lewis Flyers Saturday night at 8 p.m. Eastern.  The match is scheduled to be available via video webcast here.
