INDIANAPOLIS-  The 4th-ranked Greyhound volleyball team went 3-for-4 at the inaugural UIndy Volleyball Invitational this weekend, including splitting a pair of matches Saturday.  The Hounds earned a 3-1 win versus Tusculum College in the morning session, but fell in five sets to 25th-ranked Truman State University later in the evening.  Senior Cheneta Morrison started the day by recording her second consecutive triple-double in the win over TC, on the way to grabbing all-tournament team accolades.

MATCH ONE
The visiting Pioneers out-hit the Greyhounds in each of the first to sets, but UIndy managed to go into the third frame tied at one set apiece.

In is most efficient set of the match, UIndy took the third stanza with the help of an .326 team hitting percentage.  Tusculum scored on consecutive points just once during the set, while the Hounds used runs of 6-1 and 7-3 on the way to the pivotal set win.

A 10-2 run at the end of the fourth set propelled UIndy to the victory.  After a 15-15 tie, the Greyhounds held TC the just two more points to rest of the way to ensure victory.  Morrison was a lone dig shy of a triple-double with the score at 24-16, but the versatile setter picked out her 10th dig just before the Pioneers scored their final point.

Lyndsay Callahan had 27 digs and nine assists, while Kristina Hefferan and Kristina Kerrigan each had double-digit kill totals.

MATCH TWO

UIndy's evening match marked its first five-set defeat since Nov. 1, 2008.  Truman first pushed UIndy to the brink by taking two of the first three sets, but UIndy bounced back in the fourth frame with a .312 team percentage to force a fifth set.

The Bulldogs came out strong in the tension-filled final game, taking leads of 6-3 and 9-5 in the race to 15, but the Hounds clawed their way back in it to eventually knot it 12.

Two straight kills and a block from the visitors sealed the deal, however, as Truman escape the UIndy Invite as the only unbeaten team.

Callahan gave a gutsy performance at both the libero and outside hitter positions.  She amassed four kills to go with a match-high 21 digs.  UIndy's two Kristinas combined for 29 kills, Amy Oldenburg recorded 20 digs, and Morrison put up 51 assists, 17 digs and seven kills.
